Walleye Fishing

Walleye Fishing

The Detroit River and Lake Erie are considered to be among the best walleye fisheries in the country, and no one knows the walleye fishing scene quite like Andy’s.

Our store in Melvindale is located a short drive from the many Detroit River boat launches. Whether you’re trolling or bottom bouncing in Lake Erie, jigging or handlining the Detroit River, Andy’s Tackle Box has all the gear you need to make your next fishing trip a successful one.

Need lures? We have Rapalas, Stingers, crawler harnesses and others. Wyandotte Worms, Fin-S minnows, Power Baits, Gulp! Brand products and Walleye Assassins can also be added to our huge selection of painted jigs. Custom colors for jigs may be ordered as well.

We’ve got wall after wall of them, allowing you to select the latest colors, patterns and sizes to keep up with current reports so you can land limit catches.

Need poles? We carry a variety of casting, spinning, jigging, trolling and ultra-light selections from a variety of manufacturers. We also carry planer boards (large and small), masts and releases for your trolling needs.

Looking for a different approach? We also offer handlining equipment. A&S Reels, shanks (hard and soft), weights, Spike’s Spoons and flatfish are stocked and ready for action. In this area, many anglers believe that handlining is the best way to catch a limit of walleye in the Detroit and St. Clair Rivers. For years, the professional tournaments banned handlining because it “wasn’t considered fishing.” Guess what? It’s now a preferred method for Detroit River angling when the pros come to town.

As a reminder, fishing regulations vary throughout the river and lakes. Different rules apply in Ontario, Ohio and on Michigan’s lakes and rivers, so let us know where you plan to fish and we’ll give you a hand.
